A Prayer for Deliverance: Album Launch Concert

Church Window Mask

Thursday 19 June 7.30pm

Join Tenebrae and their director Nigel Short at St James’s Church, Piccadilly, for the launch of their new album, A Prayer for Deliverance.

Tenebrae are looking forward to this special launch concert for their new album, A Prayer for Deliverance, due to be released on Friday 20th June 2025. Expect a live performance of music from the album, along with the opportunity to purchase your own copy of the disc before it goes on public sale the following day.

Mixing iconic choral works with music by some of today’s most exciting composers, this varied programme is centred around themes of rest. Joel Thompson’s virtuosic new work is a particular highlight: written for 15 vocal parts, A Prayer for Deliverance (2021) perfectly showcases Tenebrae’s core values of passion and precision. The second half features Herbert Howells’ Requiem – surely one of the most moving works in the English choral repertoire.

Gustav Holst – The Evening Watch

Cecilia McDowall – Standing as I do before God

Francis Pott – The Souls of the Righteous

Caroline Shaw – and the swallow

Richard Rodney Bennett – A Good-Night

Joel Thompson – A Prayer for Deliverance
